Interesting New California Appellate Case on Whether to Hold a New Election When a Candidate Dies Close to the Election

See Faulder v. Mendecino County Board of Supervisors. I had commented on this case for a local newspaper when the case was first brought. I had suggested the result should go the other way, but was unaware of the legislative history uncovered by the Court of Appeal.
