"FEC to Consider Petition for Rulemaking"

Bob Bauer reports:

Commissioner Hans von Spakovsky has offered a proposed Interim Final Rule in response to the petition filed in February by a coalition of groups seeking an exemption for certain grassroots lobbying communications from the pre-election "electioneering communication" prohibitions of McCain-Feingold. The Interim Final Rule will be considered at the FEC's August 29 open meeting.

Commissioner von Spakovsky has also issued a statement, found here, in connection with the proposed rule.
